While China may be a global superpower capable of teleportation and growing mangos in space, its internet still really sucks. In a recent global survey of broadband speeds in 189 different places around the globe by Cable.co.uk, China ranked 134th, right between Iran and Mauritania, with an average download speed of 1.55 megabytes per second. Meanwhile, just across the strait, Taiwan came in 3rd in the survey, only behind Sweden and Singapore, with an average download speed of 34.4 megabytes per second.
